Reach Out - West Lothian Women's Aid
West Lothian Women's Aid (WLWA) award enabled them to establish an outreach worker who will provide support to women who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse. The worker reached out into the rural communities to offer a range of appropriate services. Celebrating our Shale Oil Heritage
Innovative museum outreach project that aims to involve groups and individuals living in former shale mining communities in the recording and celebration of their industrial heritage. The work support local interests in recording memories and surviving heritage of the shale industry, in conducting historical research, and in organising exhibitions and workshops. Winchburgh Connected
Range of services and agencies working in the Winchburgh area that have been working together through the locality planning process to address need. Through this process and through a number of community engagement and involvement exercises, a range of issues has been identified, which need to be addressed. Such issues include: a lack of opportunities for young people and young parents, and barriers such as poor transport to access services and job opportunities in other towns in West Lothian. Stoneyburn and Breich Valley Employability Project
A drop-in and advice service which has been in operation in Stoneyburn since 2005 has after consultation with young people and the community learned that there are concerns about the needs and services available for young people. In particular, the concerns of those that struggle with mainstream education, who are unemployed and finding transition into adulthood difficult. In support, projects have been devised to provide: a safe and non-threatening environment that young people will want to attend; workshops and educational sessions that will respond to their needs; and a signposting service to enable uptake of specialised services, for example, Access2Employment and health services. The project will reinstate local walks around Binny Craig and between Uphall, Longmuir and Ecclesmachan. This should meet the need for safe and accessible walking routes in the Ecclesmachan/Uphall areas that will enhance the current core path plan and provide important linkage to longer East/West and North/South paths in the region. Fauldhouse Forest Employability Project
This partnership initiative was developed by Fauldhouse Development Trust, West Lothian Council - Community Regeneration, West Lothian Council - Access2employment, the Forestry Commission and JobcentrePlus. The project offers paid training opportunities for long-term unemployed young people to work in forestry. Trainees carry out enhancements to woodland areas in the Fauldhouse area. This will assist in the promotion of the use of the woodland area by the community. Grant awarded £62,000

Rural Outreach Counsellor for young people
Managed by West Lothian Council's Children and Families team, this project provides a young person's counselling service (in the field of mental health) within local communities. Counselling is not a statutory service. However, providing such a service through the Rural Outreach Counsellor project should increase availability to young people who may not have access to transport. Grant awarded £28,000

Country Parks Employability Programme
This project has been developed to make a practical and significant impact on the challenge of tackling youth unemployment. It will create 30 new employment and training opportunities based on rural land-based skills and linked to DWP Future Jobs Fund Initiative.
