West Lothian Towns

West Lothian is made up of a series of small to medium sized settlements, the biggest of which is the new town of Livingston which has a population of over 50,000. The other two main towns are Bathgate and Linlithgow. West Lothian is an area of contrasts with significant rural areas through to state-of-the-art enterprise parks. Settlement Profile 1991-2001

As indicated above, a number of settlements in West Lothian have experienced significant growth in population from 1991 to 2001. With the projected increase in new homes being built, the population of the area as a whole is expected to reach 170,770 by 2011, an increase of 7.4% from 1991 to 2001.
