Wave goodbye to wails of 'But there?s nothing to do'. West Lothian has a whole host of boredom-busting activities for younger visitors.

Almond Valley Heritage Centre offers little legs the chance to run off excess energy as they explore the discovery centre, animal house, adventure zone and of course, the all-important picnic barn.

Over at the Linlithgow Story there's a museum and garden celebrating the kings and commoners of the town. And tucked away in a traditional cottage in Bathgate is the Bennie Museum - home to a treasure chest of fascinating local artefacts.

Almond Valley Heritage Centre

Almond Valley Heritage Centre is located in the heart of Livingston beside the river Almond. There are loads of hands on exhibits for children. The museum preserves and interprets artefacts from a variety of local industries particularly Oil Shale mining.

It also has a community farm with a variety of animals from Cattle and Sheep to Rabbits and Guinea Pigs, a working watermill as well as a 2' 6" gauge railway and tractor rides.

It is open daily, (t) 01506 414 957.
