Golf

Image of golfer
Visitors to the Southeast of Scotland quickly realise that they are in the very cradle of the game of golf. It was here on the banks of the Firth of Forth that the game saw its earliest development.

West Lothian has many fine golf courses, see below for more details on the individual courses.

Bathgate Golf Club

The Club has the probably unique claim to be the only Club to have ever produced two Ryder Cup Captains; Eric Brown and Bernard Gallacher. Eric captained the side in 1969 and 1971 and Bernard in 1991, 1993 and 1995.

The course poses a variety of interesting problems which are accentuated by a burn which crosses the 1st and 14th fairways, and also lies immediately in front of the 17th green. The course provides an excellent test of golf, it has 18 holes measuring 6328 yards, par 71.
