C-Plan

C-Plan Telecommunications Limited was formed in 2001 by a group of telecommunications specialists who spotted a gap in the market for tailored, technical support and design services.

Using their extensive knowledge and engineering experience of the sector, the company delivers a turnkey solution for telecom distribution networks including design, build and project management, and Geographical Information Systems.

From its Livingston base, C-Plan has been responsible for the design and build of some of the biggest external telecommunications projects undertaken in the UK in recent years. Despite the general downturn in the telecommunications industry, the company has gone from strength to strength since its launch, growing turnover considerably year on year, and attracting an impressive list of well-known clients in Scotland, England, Ireland and mainland Europe.

C-Plan chose West Lothian as its base, following a detailed survey of locations across central Scotland including Lanarkshire and Clydebank. In the end, Caledonia House, at Quarrywood Court in Livingston was selected for its excellent location and high quality office accommodation at favourable rates.

Alex Spicer, Planning Director added: "We took the view that Livingston was the best location for the business. Most of the staff travel to work from the west of Scotland and this presents few problems."

The bulk of C-Plan's contracts come via personal recommendation and the company has no trouble servicing clients across the UK and abroad from its Livingston headquarters. Edinburgh airport is just a short drive away, and the nearby motorway network makes driving easy.

Determined to repeat the success of its early years, C-Plan is currently developing and growing its installation business. To that end, the company recently acquired a yard in East Calder for its growing operations division - further proof of its commitment to the West Lothian area.

Alex added: "Our needs span both office based staff and operations staff with a small fleet of vehicles. The convergence of motorway systems allows for fast access to the rest of the UK. The proximity of Edinburgh airport was also a crucial factor in our decision to locate here, as we do a lot of business in England and further afield.

"We aim to grow the business further and we will do it in West Lothian."
