West Lothian Education and Cultural Services is fully committed to seeking sustainable improvement across all aspects of the education and cultural services provided to pupils, parents and the community of West Lothian. This commitment reflects the Council's stated priority of providing to the people of West Lothian quality services while meeting the Council's statutory duty as stated in the Standards in Scotland's Schools etc. Act 2000.

Education is a lifelong experience in West Lothian, and a top priority of West Lothian Council. As well as information on schools, school transport and nurseries, this section provides information on adult and community education, scholarships and trust funds and training in the workplace.

Proximity to Edinburgh gives access to the independent school sector and West Lothian?s central location within the Central Belt of Scotland means that 11 higher education institutes (HEI) are within easy reach.
