West Lothian's population is projected to increase by 22.9 per cent to 208,364 by 2033.
That compares with a Scotland-wide population rise of around seven per cent to 5,544,410. Other areas of the Lothian's are also set for strong growth according to the report from the General Register Office for Scotland. Edinburgh's population is projected to rise 16.8 per cent, while East Lothian's population may rise 33.5 per cent by 2033 to hit 128,279 while Midlothian could rise just 3.3 per cent to 83,187. The General Register Office for Scotland assumes that recent trends will continue into the future, considering factors such as the age of the population, migration, birth and death rates.
