How much do you spend on your utilities and waste disposal every year? It's amazing how many companies don't know the answer to this question.
West Lothian businesses are being encouraged to measure their carbon footprint and devise a strategy to reduce it. - Landfill tax is now set to increase to £71 per tonne by 2013.
- Businesses will soon face further restrictions on the types of waste they can send to landfill.
- Average electricity prices have risen in cash terms between Q.3 2007 and Q.3 2008 by 8-10% for small to medium consumers and gas prices have risen by 33-37% during the same period.
If you missed the FREE workshop from the Business Environment Partnership (BEP) last month looking at strategies to reduce your carbon emissions phone 01506 777 400 to arrange an appointment with one of the BEP's Business Environmental Advisers or to register your interest for future workshops. West Lothian Council's executive councillor for the environment, Robert De Bold, commented: "West Lothian Council has set itself ambitious targets in reducing its emissions and improving the energy efficiency of its buildings and street lighting by 2014. "Businesses also have a huge part to play in reducing emissions. And the good news is that, along with the potential to save money, there could be a competitive advantage to be gained from being proactive. A recent survey suggested that consumers are much more likely to buy products and services from companies with strong environmental sustainability policies."
