Work to start on upgrading M8 junction

Wed, Jun 17 2009

A £750,000 project to install safety fences at junction three of the M8 near Livingston will get under way next week.

The work will see safety fences constructed along the main carriageway and slip road and will also involve the upgrading of traffic signs and lighting works.

The work is scheduled to last for 40 days and will be undertaken from 8pm to 6am to minimise disruption to motorists.

Slip roads, lane closures and a 40mph speed limit will be in place for the safety of motorists and the workforce during these hours.

John Murphy, director of BEAR Scotland, said: "This section of the M8 has lasted well but now is the time to go in and make improvements. Work will be carried out as quickly as possible to minimise disruption to motorists."
