West Lothian companies urged to upskill their employees.

Wed, May 27 2009

West Lothian College will be demonstrating how vocational qualifications give people high quality skills that help improve the economic well-being of companies.

As part of the National VQ Day celebrations on Wednesday 24 June local employers are being invited to find out how their business could benefit from Vocational Qualifications.

Business Partnership Centre Staff will be on hand to speak to employers as well as industry experts like SQA, Learn Direct, Careers Scotland, CMI and the Institute of Customer Service.

There will be keynote speakers and a chance to see demonstrations of their award winning e-portfolio system, which allows learners to study at their own pace.

Vocational qualifications give people high quality skills that help improve the economic well-being of companies.  Last year's report showed high demand amongst employers for workers with work appropriate skills with 85% saying they would encourage people to take VQs to enhance their workforce.
