A8000 Upgrade

Work has begun to transform the road connections between West Lothian and Fife through the A8000 Upgrade. £24 million of Scottish Executive funding has been approved to upgrade the road between the Forth Road Bridge and the M9 Spur at Kirkliston.

At present this section of road suffers severe congestion throughout the day. The new scheme under construction is a new, off-line dual 2-lane motorway extension of the existing trunk road M9 Spur, running for around 3km to a new junction with the A90 near Dalmeny.

Construction commenced in 2005 and is anticipated for completion in Autumn 2007.
