Work Placements - The Environmental Placement Programme (EPP) is an effective way of delivering cost benefits to companies whilst at the same time providing university students with valuable in-company experience through 8 week work placements. Run in association with the Shell Technology Enterprise Programme (STEP) and with further private sector sponsorship, almost 50 undergraduate placement projects have identified more than £600,000 worth of cost savings for West Lothian firms since the programme was first run in 1998.
Students are put through training workshops and closely supervised to ensure that the business objectives of the project are met and cost savings are implemented. -
- ISO14001
- The Business Environment Partnership run a specific ISO4001 programme, in partnership with Scottish Enterprise, that has assisted many small and medium sized businesses to implement Environmental Management Systems.

- These businesses have seen significant benefits through reduced costs and risk; improved public image and marketing advantages. To date the BEP has helped more than 50 companies to obtain certification to the international standard ISO14001.
