Not sure where to go for employment support?

There's a wide range of support out there for employers who are recruiting new staff, but with a number of different providers, West Lothian Working Together aims to make sure you get the best advice to suit your business needs.

West Lothian Working Together is a partnership of organisations with a proven track record and a wealth of experience in bringing together employers and those looking for work. 

Jobcentre plus, Skills Development Scotland, West Lothian Council and West Lothian Chamber of Commerce are working together to provide a single source of impartial information to help employers both large and small access the right support for their business.

One stop for employers

By providing a single, simple source of support for local employers, West Lothian Working Together can help you through the maze of support, saving you valuable time and money when it comes to recruitment and training.

This free service will help you to match your business with the most appropriate options and provide you with the right recruits at the right time.

How does it work?

Our focus is on meeting the needs of your organisation and providing job applicants who fulfil the requirements of the post on offer. We will work with you to understand your business, then match or signpost you to the programmes that best meet your needs. The support doesn't stop there. We will help you through any problems linked to recruitment to ensure an easy transition into work for employer and employee alike.

Redundancy Response

There are a number of programs designed to help provide support, guidance and practical assistance to companies who are undergoing restructuring and redundancies.

Redundancy support can be provided by a number of agencies including:

  • West Lothian Council;
  • JobcentrePlus;
  • HM Revenues & Customs;
  • Scottish Enterprise;
  • Skills Development Scotland;
  • Business Gateway;
  • Other partners include Citizen Advice Bureau and LearnDirect Scotland.

The idea of all support schemes is to assist employees facing the challenge of redundancy. Any employee facing such a challenge needs a ready understanding of career planning and must quickly develop skills such as:

  • completing application forms;
  • creating a winning CV;
  • effective jobsearch strategies;
  • successful interview techniques;
  • investigating learning and retraining opportunities;

Our redundancy services have a wealth of experience working in partnership with employers in delivering a free, top quality service to employees to help them develop these career planning skills. Services are delivered on the client?s premises and can be on a one-to-one basis, in groupwork sessions, or as a mixture of both. It is free, confidential and impartial.

Services include benefits advice, careers guidance, education and training opportunities, local job vacancies, employability and business start-up advice.
