A young technology driven software development company based near West Calder is set to grow by more than 50% during 2005. Codestuff Ltd was established in January 2004 to address gaps in the growing market of IP Video. Managing Director David Ritchie and co-directors Tom Watt and Nick Vaughan all brought a wealth of product development experience in this field to the business, and, in a very short space of time, the company has developed mature products and gained a reputation in the market as a company that can be trusted to deliver. This position has allowed Codestuff to move from relying on private investment to a stable self-sustainable operation with a forecast of profitability for 2005. The company?s key product is a system of ?middle ware?, known as a Software Developers Tool Kit, used by customers to allow them to integrate their own software or hardware into complete end user products that are capable of linking to other platforms, such as CCTV in airports, on oil rigs or in traffic management. In recruiting a fifth software engineer, the company is expanding its engineering as well as it sales department to keep up with demand for its products and services. Their growth plan is supported locally by the Business Gateway. David Ritchie said: "I?d like to express our appreciation at the assistance received from the Business Gateway. We have been in touch with our business adviser since last August, when the company was at a crucial stage in its early development, and have received help in a number of ways. It has been invaluable and has helped develop our business planning and financial projecting, helping us become more professional in our approach to doing business and at identifying the areas of the business that need attention. The support and contribution in West Lothian has, without doubt, helped develop Codestuff faster than we had expected. Having the right expertise in various capacities when needed and without the burden of expensive consultation fees has been an essential element of this growth." With a new partner company and a £150,000 contract in the bag, things are looking good at Codestuff. website: www.codestuff.net
