Acrafab

Local entrepreneurs Kevin Grady and Pete Martin are going from strength to strength since they established their business Acrafab Ltd last August. Based in Whitburn at the Burnhouse Industrial Estate, this small manufacturer of point of sale and display products started with just two members of staff, but less than a year later, employ a further six. Creating displays in acrylics, polycarbonates and pvc, this very busy company is set to reach sales of £750,000 in its first year. ?From small beginnings we are now the largest company of its type in West Lothian?, said Kevin. Kevin and Pete brought to their new business a combined experience of 30 years in the industry. Though not a recognised trade, they intend to make sure all their staff is qualified and confident in this modern fabrication, providing sound in-house training and recognising that it takes some 4 years to fully train new staff members. The pair sought help from the Business Gateway in Livingston, who assisted with the business plan and provided listings for property, health and safety, accountants and solicitors. The Business Gateway also put Acrafab in touch with the Job Rotation project, which helped with the recruitment of new staff. Kevin was enthusiastic about the support they received: "Jennifer Cummings was really good and it all worked really well. She did what she said she would and always followed through and kept in constant touch with us." Acrafab?s main markets are in retail and bank refurbishment. Kevin concluded: "We are working with some major chains and know our industry thoroughly. We want to continue what we are doing and keep the current business shape as it is, with a good mix. We will be very happy with that." website: www.acrafab.com
