Government training scheme has "no impact" for small firms
15 April 2009 - Small businesses claim that the Government's Train to Gain service is having little impact in helping them during the recession, according to a recent survey. The education and skills survey, carried out by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and training firm Nord Anglia Education, reveals that 42% of employers think the training programme, which offers advice and access to staff training courses, has had no impact on their business, while three-quarters rate the quality of the service as poor. The report also reveals that 40% of employers are worried about the basic skill levels of their staff, while over half are concerned about their employees' IT skills.
